Programme Name:
   M.Sc. Women Studies
Introduction:
   
Women’s Studies is an interdisciplinary programme. The programme acts as a catalyst to highlight women’s role in all aspects of life in the national development. The aim of the programme is to encourage their role in the academic disciplines that have been historically male dominated. Women’s Studies expand our definition and perceptions of which we are as women and men and encourage critical analysis of the interplay of gender, class, and race in society. Furthermore it offers the holistic approach to knowledge by infusing them with a new perspective to shape a better future for all people. Thus the courses are designed thus to encourage further research and analysis on women’s status in Pakistani society. It will prove beneficial in many careers especially in-service people such as, journalists, educationists, community workers, administrators and human resource development projects etc. The Department of Women’s Studies offers three academic programmes, which are as follows: • CERTIFICATE COURSES The students who wish to do only one or two courses; on successful completion they will be awarded certificates. • POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA (One Year Programme/minimum two semesters) Those students who would successfully complete five credit courses will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Women’s Studies. • M. Sc. WOMEN’S STUDIES (Two Years Programme/minimum 4 semesters) Students who will successfully complete Post Graduate Diploma in Women’s Studies can also continue their studies leading to M. Sc. in Women’s Studies (by taking courses offered in the third semester). At the completion of ten credits they will be awarded M. Sc. Women’s Studies degree.
