31,860 pass SSC exam: FBISE declares results By Nasir Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, June 21: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Friday declared the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examination 2002 with an overall pass percentage of 61.36.

Last year, the pass percentage was 60.95.

According to the result statistics, 52,548 candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 31,860 declared successful in all the subjects.

Taimur Saleem of PAF Intermediate College, Munir Road, Lahore, and Mohammad Umair Khan of FG Boys Public School, Multan Cantt., have shared the overall first position by obtaining 787 marks. Overall second position has been clinched by Maryam Jan Bangash of PAF Model High School, Skesar (Khushab). She got 786 marks. The overall third position has been bagged by Saad Zaheer of PAF Public School, Lower Topa, Murree, by getting 785 marks.

Similarly, in the general group the top position has been shared by two girl students, Zonish Inayat of Federal Government Girls High School, Humak, and Fariha Rauf of Pakistan International School, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Both of them secured 725 marks. Second and third positions have been bagged by Safoora Ali of FG Girls High School No 9, G-9/2, Islamabad, and Shafaq Janjua of FG Girls High School, Tariqabad, Rawalpindi, by securing 705 and 696 marks, respectively.

As many as 34,746 students appeared in the science group and 17,802 in the general group. The number of regular and private candidates stood at 37,296 and 15,252, respectively.

Out of the passed candidates, 2,497 candidates (1,384 boys, 1,113 girls) secured A-1 grade. As many as 6,098 candidates passed the exam in A-grade; 8,735 in B-grade; 9,286 in C-grade and 4,946 in D-grade.

Following are the position holders in each group:

SCIENCE (BOYS):
 Taimur Saleem, PAF Intermediate College, Munir Road, Lahore, 787 marks; Muhammad Umair Khan, FG Boys Public School, Multan Cantt., 787 marks; Saad Zaheer, PAF Public School, Lower Topa, Murree, 785 marks; Muhammad Kamran, Fauji Foundation College for Boys, New Lalazar, Rawalpindi.

SCIENCE (GIRLS):
 Maryam Jan Bangash, PAF Model High School, Skesar, Khushab, 786 marks; Sidra Zaka, Army Public Inter Science College, Gujranwala Cantt., 783 marks; Sundus Sohail, Army Public School and Intermediate College, Pano Aqil Cantt., 781 marks.

GENERAL (BOYS):
Mustaneer Haider, Private, 661 marks; Muhammad Shafait Khan, FG Public School, Malir Cantt., Karachi; Muhammad Akbar, Pakistan Higher Secondary School, Manama (Bahrain), 616 marks.

GENERAL (GIRLS): Zonish Inayat, FG Girls High School, Humak, Islamabad, 725 marks; Fariha Rauf, Pakistan International School, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), 725 marks; Safoora Ali, FG Girls High School No 9, G-9/2, Islamabad, 705 marks; Shafaq Janjua, FG Girls High School, Tariqabad, Rawalpindi, 696 marks.

The FBISE announced that 419 unfair means cases were reported this year, out of which 293 cases had already been decided.

The FBISE, through a notification, advised the candidates, whose results have been withheld for want of fee/eligibility, to resolve discrepancies immediately to enable the office to declare their results.

The FBISE has also announced that the supplementary examination of the SSC will commence from September 12. It said the candidates, who have failed in four subjects in the first attempt, should appear again in all the subjects in the supplementary examination.
