Doctor remanded in police custody till 26th
Karachi:The Judicial Magistrate (JM), South, Zulfiqar Memon, remanded Dr Abdul Jabbar Memon, the main accused in the sexual assault and attempt to murder of a trainee nurse of the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), in police custody till July 26. The Saddar police had booked Dr Jabbar Memon in the FIR on the complaint of the hospital management.

The Judicial Magistrate (JM), South, Abdul Qadir, had refused to give remand to Dr Memon in the absence of the accused. The counsel for the latter, who was brought from the Aga Khan University Hospital on a stretcher as he could not climb all the way to the upper floor, requested the court to give his remand which was turned down by the JM.

Later, he filed an application in the court of District and Sessions Court, South, Faheem Ahmed Sidiqui, stating that his client was injured and could not attend the court on the second floor. The DJ, accepting the application, asked for the production of the accused in the court of Judicial Magistrate, South, Zulfiqar Memon, which was situated on the ground floor.

Meanwhile, the JM, South, Abdul Qadir, dismissed the petition filed by the brother-in-law of the accused, Abdul Sattar Memon that he was being tortured by the police. The news
