Lahore Parents Association for Medical Colleges Self-Finance Students protested on Jail Road

LAHORE: The Parents Association for Medical Colleges Self-Finance Students protested on the Jail Road on Tuesday. The protesters demanded that the Punjab government should reduce the self-finance students’ fee.

The association’s President Safdar Jamil said the self-finance students were paying Rs 250,000 every year and over five years they had to pay Rs 1.25 million. He said the government had announced that the self-finance scheme was to be abolished and now, the students already enrolled in the programme were hoping for concessions too. “We don’t demand complete wave-offs, but at least a 40 to 50 percent reduction,” Jamil said. Legislator Dr Saeed Elahi said the current government had nothing to do with the self-finance students, as they had been enrolled in 2007 and 2008.
