USA Visas fee increase

May. 24 : From June 4th, applicants for all US visas that are not petition-based, including B1/B2 tourist and business visitor visas and all student and exchange visitor visas, would pay a fee of $140, reported US embassy in Lima.

Through an announcement, the embassy detailed that from the mentioned date a tiered structure with separate fees for different visa categories will be replaced by the new tiered fee structure created covering the higher unit costs for processing certain categories.

The most solicited visas in Peru are B1 and B2 for business and tourism, respectively, and F1 for students, remarked the embassy, when saying that all the kind of nonimmigrant visa fees will be restructured.

“Department of State of USA is required to attempt to recover the cost of processing nonimmigrant visas through the collection of the application fees,” the announcement highlighted.

According to the US Embassy, solicitors that has paid the previous fee and will be interviewed on June 4th or posterior days of the current year must pay the difference with the new fee.
