Sindh Pharmacy Council designs training courses for dispensers, compounders

Karachi:The Sindh Pharmacy Council (SPC) has prepared one-month training courses for dispensers and compounders.A meeting of the SPC was held this week at the Sindh Secretariat. The issue of non-pharmacist salespeople having the qualification of compounder and dispensing medicines at the retail or wholesale outlets was discussed at length. This has been a concern for a long time and the SPC, upon instruction from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, has prepared a course to train these non-pharmacists so that medicine-dispensing practices can be improved.

The services of a training consultant were acquired in the previous SPC meeting last year. The council discussed the importance of the course and its contents. The renewal of licences for running medical stores has been made conditional by the Supreme Court to the successful completion of the training programme. Earlier SPC Secretary Tanwir Ahmed Siddiqui presented the performance report of the Council.
