Khyber Medical University syndicate approves Rs386.1m budget

PESHAWAR: The Syndicate of Khyber Medical University Monday approved budget for the institutions with a total outlay of Rs386.1 million for year 2009-10. The Syndicate met here with vice-chancellor Prof Dr Hafeezullah in the chair also elected Dr Hafeezullah as member of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.

For strengthening of the constituent institutions of KMU to impart quality education and provide better healthcare facilities to the community, the syndicate also approved establishment of Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Institute of Medical and Heath Education and Learning Resource Centre during 2009-10 with an estimated cost of Rs187.752 million.

The syndicate approved the appointments of various officers on regular basis on recommendation of the University Selection Board in BPS-17. The meeting recommended statutes to the senate for a final approval regarding experience and age for the appointment of vice-chancellor, the age limit will be up to 61 years and the vice chancellor shall have the experience of 10 year as professor of the university and preferably with administrative experience. The syndicate also approved affiliation rules for medical and dental colleges, both for public and private sector medical and dental colleges.
