Sindh Registration of 55 private schools cancelled
Karachi The Sindh Directorate for Private Institutions, after receiving the education minister's approval, have cancelled the registration of 55 private schools found flouting the Sindh government's decision of observing winter vacations from December 22 to December 31, 2008.
"The Board of Secondary Education, Karachi (BSEK), Aga Khan Education Board (AKEB) and the British Council (BC) have been officially directed not to conduct exams of these schools unless their registration is restored," revealed provincial directorate officials. This is the first time that the Sindh Directorate for Private Institutions has taken actions against institutes that have violated its rules and regulations.
According to the officials, BSEK, AKEB and BC officials have also been asked to strictly follow the direction of the directorate and deal with the schools as per the approved rules.
Some of the schools that have suffered the directorate's decision are, Bahria College at MT Khan Road, Habib Girls School in Garden, PECHS Girls School, Farhan High School at Korangi, Esanni Children Academy at Shoe Market, Metropolitan Academy in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Metropolitan Foundation in the FB Area, Fauji Foundation School in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Iqra Maujul Itfal School at Korangi, Islamia Scientific School in Nazimabad-2, Worldwide Academy in North Nazimabad, Al-Huda Public School in Manzoor Colony, Real Cambridge School in North Karachi and the City School PAF Chapter.
These schools were found to be open by the Sindh Directorate for Private Institutions inspection team during the winter vacations from December 22 to December 31, 2008, which were to be observed as per the decision of the Sindh Education Department Steering Committee. Daily Times
