PESHAWAR:14 June: Standardised entrance tests for admissions into the public and private sector medical and dental colleges of the province have been scheduled for Sunday, July 15.

According to an announcement on Tuesday, as many as 9,365 candidates from across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) have registered for the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) Entrance Test 2018, being held under the auspices of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar. Of these, 5,482 students are boys while 4,083 are girls.

The tests will simultaneously be held at seven different centres — up from the five previously, including at the Islamia Collegiate School in Peshawar — where 5,747 students had registered, the Haripur University in Haripur — 551 students, grassy ground in Saidu Sharif — 660 students, Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan — 1,030 students, Malakand University in Dir — 329, Cadet College in Kohat — 471, and at the new building of the Gomal Medical College in Dera Ismail Khan — 576 candidates.

Registration for the exams is expected to continue through the Eidul Fitr holidays without any interval.

Applicants can register through the KMU website (kmuadmissions.pk) with the help of a scratch card worth Rs1,600, available at specific branches of Allied Bank Ltd throughout the province.

The last date for registration is Monday, July 2.

Medical Universities: Over 33,000 to sit in entrance tests

To minimise the overwhelming burden of around 20,000 candidates travelling to in Peshawar, it was decided the students of the board of intermediate and secondary education of Peshawar will appear in the Peshawar centre on the first come first serve basis up to 10,000 registrations. Remaining students from Peshawar will be registered at the Kohat or Mardan centres.
