Salman Taseer class-fellow of Mian Nawaz Sharif in Saint Anthony School Lahore
Profile Punjab Governor Salman Taseer LAHORE, May 16 (APP): Newly appointed Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, who belongs to a respectable and intellectual family, started his political career from the platform of Pakistan People’s Party.
He had remained as PPP Information Secretary and won the MPA seat in Punjab on PPP ticket in 1988 and remained as Deputy Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly.
Salman Taseer also contested on National Assembly seats during the general elections of 1990 and 1993 but could not succeed. He had also been taking part actively in the MRD in 1985.
Taseer also served as federal minister for Commerce and Industry in the caretaker setup of Muhammadmian Soomro in 2007-08.
He was the close aide of Benazir Bhutto and companion of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Yousaf Salahuddin.
He had also been class-fellow of Mian Nawaz Sharif in Saint Anthony School Lahore. 
Salman Taseer received the Chartered Accountant Degree from London and is the chairman of a big media group of Pakiatan and also running a telecommunication business.
He is the son of Muhammad Din Taseer, popularly known as M.D. Taseer, who is the first Ph.D. degree holder in the Sub-continent.
