What is Polymer Engineering

The discipline of polymer engineering involves studying relationships that exist between the structure and properties of polymeric materials. An understanding of such structure-properties correlations facilitates correct fabrication, design and use of components made from polymers. The Polymer Engineering course offered is aimed at producing competent and skillful graduates who wish to seek careers as engineers, scientists and managers in the polymer industries.

Career Opportunities in plastics industry

Career Opportunities in plastics industry

Career Opportunities

Pakistan’s plastics industry is in need of qualified engineers. Every major industry is a consumer of polymers and hence the career opportunities for these graduate engineers are surprisingly diverse. Job prospects in this field are much better than for industry as a whole because this sector is in initial stage of its development in the country.

For successful candidates it is easier to get employment than many other science and technology graduates. Plastics and rubber firms continue to be the major employers though polymers are also the basis of the fibre, coating and adhesives industries.

The polymer processors are considered to be the heart of the plastics industry, convert these raw polymers into useful everyday products such as rubber tyres, automotive parts. computer connectors/housings, plastic films etc.

Polymer production and processing are the two sectors which employ the largest number of polymer engineers. technologists and technicians. But plastics and rubber products also occur as components in other more complex products, for example cars, aircraft, telecommunications and household appliances. These secondary polymer consumers have increasing need of flexible and well-trained specialist engineers and technicians. As polymer material properties improves and manufacturing methods progresses, simultaneously new areas of applications will develop, most notably in industries such as electronics, medicine etc.

PTC is offering this B.E Polymer Engineering Degree program to provide qualified and technically sound manpower to fulfill existing demand supply gap for polymer specialized manpower.

Uptill now six batches of B.E Polymer Engineering have graduated.
