Higher Secondary Schools admissions offered through CAP
Karachi:Admissions to different government colleges and 24 Higher Secondary Schools (HSC) will be offered through the Centralised Admission Policy (CAP).

This was stated by Chairman CAP Dr Nasir Ansar on Wednesday at a press conference held at the Government College of Commerce and Economics. “The placement forms will be available from July 23 and would be sold till August 13. However, this is tentative and the date may be extended if required,” he said.

“There are 1,00,015 seats available in 128 colleges in six different faculties/ categories, including Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Computer Science, Commerce, Humanities and Home Economics. All colleges will act as guidance centres. 24 HSC (Male and Female) are also included once again in the process of admission in Class XI through CAP,” he added.

“15 claim centres have also been established which include eight for female and seven for male candidates. A two per cent quota for girl students from co-education and two per cent quota for disabled candidates have also been allocated this year. However, sports quota is not offered to the students,” Dr Ansar said.

“At least 600 new lecturers have been inducting in the education sector and hopefully there would be no complaints regarding the shortage of teaching staff at the colleges this year,” he added.

He also informed that this year the students of supplementary examinations, who have not failed in more than two subjects in matriculation exams, are eligible for admissions. “However, the admissions depend upon the availability of seats at the colleges after the students have cleared the remaining papers,” he informed.

As per the details shared by Dr Ansar at the press briefing, Coordinator to Senior Minister for Education and Literacy, Naveed Zuberi is included in the 22-members CAP committee as an observer while another coordinator to the education minister, Muhammad Khalil Qureshi, is the coordinator of the committee.

The price of the CAP brochure is Rs50 and it would be available at 52 branches of Allied Bank of Pakistan in 18 towns of Karachi. This year a total 1, 00,732 students passed their matriculation examination while approximately 5,000 candidates are expected to apply from O’ Levels, other education boards of the city, Technical Board as well as those students who choose to defer admissions by a year due to some reasons. The forms of O’ Level, other than Karachi Board, Technical Board, General Science (Computer) and Home Economics must be submitted at Allied Bank branches located at Hassan Square and Abdullah Haroon Road.
