Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre emergency ward shifted to new building
Karachi:The in-charge of the emergency ward of the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Dr Seemi Jamali, said that the emergency ward of the hospital was being renovated and expanded and in this regard it had temporary been shifted to the Rangoonwala Trust Building for two months.
Dr. Jamali maintained that the JPMC’s emergency had been upgraded to 150 beds from 100. She said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had given Rs40 million for this project while Rs.1.9 million was also being granted for new equipment. She said that buildings of the medical OPDs were being merged into the emergency ward to increase its capacity, where construction work was already under way. She said that encroachments around the emergency ward would also be removed in this regard.
Dr. Seemi Jamali said that more doctors and paramedical staff would be required after renovation of the enhanced emergency facility. She said that the JPMC was largest hospital of the province where more than 2000 cases are reported daily in the emergency ward. She said that the hospital consisted of 28 wards with 1500 beds where patients were provided quality medical treatment.The news
