BIEK announces results of 2nd year home economics, others
KARACHI:01August:The Board of Intermediate Education (BIEK), Karachi announced on Monday the results of the second year annual examination, 2017 of home economics, differently-abled students in humanities and diploma in physical education.

The BIEK acting controller, Muhammad Jafar, announced the results of the annual examinations a month before the expected result announcement date.

In the group of home economics, a total of 268 students were registered at the Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College for Home Economics, the only college that offers home economics to intermediate students in Karachi. Out of the 268 students, 264 appeared for the examination and 172 were declared successful, resulting in the pass percentage of 65.15%.

Inter results expected on Monday

Out of 172 successful students of home economics, five obtained A-1 grades, 39 managed to secure A grades, 53 students got B grades, while 51 and 24 students secured C and D grades respectively.

For the faculty of differently-abled students in humanities, 70 out of 71 students were declared successful, making the pass percentage 98.59%. A-1 grades were secured by 47 students, while 20 students achieved A grades with three students getting B grades.

A total of 22 students were registered for the second year examination for the diploma in physical education, out of which 21 appeared in the papers conducted in May, 2017. According to the results, as many as 12 students managed to clear all the papers, resulting in a pass percentage of 57.14 %. Seven students achieved B grades, four secured C grades and one passed the examinations with a D grade.

Position holders

In the female-only group of home economics, the first position was bagged by Bushra Muhammad Asif who secured 1,047 marks from the total 1,200 with a percentage of 87.25%. Rahima Akhter secured second position with 1,023 marks and a percentage of 85.25%. The third position was bagged by Farwa Fatima who secured 1,010 marks resulting in 84.17%.

In the differently-abled children category, Muhammad Umar Khan from DEWA Academy secured first position with 1,021 marks out of 1,100, resulting in a percentage of 92.81%. Tooba Shahid, a student of ABSA Higher Secondary School for the Deaf, gained second position with 1,020 marks and a percentage of 92.72%, while her classmate Imran Shahid managed to bag third position with 1,017 marks and 92.45%.The Express Tribune.
