Nursing education dept set up at Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC)

Lahore: The Nursing Education Department has been set up in Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) in order to provide higher education and practical training to nurses.

According to a press release here on Monday, AIMC/Jinnah Hospital Principal Dr Javed Akram said the purpose of setting up the new department was to educate the nurses about the latest medical treatment and train them on modern pattern.

He said nurses in the developed countries were considered backbone of medical profession.He said in the developed countries there were 4.2 nurses per doctor while in Pakistan the situation there were 4.5 doctors per nurse which showed a lack of understanding about the functionality of this profession. He said nurses played vital role in the management of the wards in the hospitals. He said there was a need to grant nurses' department's its due right so that the flaws of health delivery system could be removed. He urged the nurses to continue serving the nation and mankind as a whole. The News

Actually in Pakistan, due to some black sheep type doctors and staff, the profession of nurse has   malevolence impact on general public. Girls are not encouraged to join this profession because nurses are not given due respect. Few incidences are also reported where nurses were found in evil act. That has also given a bad name to this profession. Islam encourages nurse profession.
