Nurses Day is celebrated to mark birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale
Islamabad :18 May: Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital celebrated the International Nurses Day, says a press release.

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. This year, the day was marked by the theme:

Nurses: A voice to lead - health is a human right

The event was organized under the supervision of chief director Nursing and midwifery affairs Clara Pasha.

CEO of Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital, Dr Shoukat Ali Bangash was the chief guest of the ceremony that was attended by a large number of nurses, doctors and medical staff from various hospitals of the twin cities.

CEO said, “The role of nurses has now expanded. Nurses today are seen as educators, counselors and researchers”. He paid tribute to nurses for their selfless and crucial contribution in health care. Admiring the work of nurses CEO Dr Bangash advised nurses to have a clear vision of their duties to help the sick and disabled.

CEO also said that the perception of Nursing totally changes when one refers to it in the context of QIH, and he hopes QIH would come forward and take the initiative of setting up a centre advocating Nurses’ rights. The speeches were followed by poster displays and games that gave an insight into the problems faced by women, especially nurses. He also said Nurses demands have gone very high globally. He will and has been promoting encouragement in education. He said nurses need protection and security.

In the end of the event CEO, QIH presented shields and prizes to nurses as recognition of their extraordinary services at QIH and thanked all participants.The news.
