AIOU to open admissions for Semester Autumn on August 1
Islamabad:June 23:Allama Iqbal Open University(AIOU) will open its admissions for the Semester Autumn 2016 from SSC to PhD level in various disciplines on August 1.

AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui has directed the Admission Department to provide maximum facilities to the applicants in getting the admission in their desired discipline as well as ensuring availability of admission forms at nearest places.

He approved setting up points at Regional Campuses and Coordinating Offices for sale of admission forms, said spokesman of the University on Wednesday. He also advised all Regional Directors to set up special camp at their offices for the guidance of the students.

As per the vice chancellor’s directives admission forms and prospectuses would be available from the sale points of the university’s main campus and its regional coordinating offices across the country.

Admission forms with prescribed fee could be submitted in all the countrywide branches of Bank Al-Falah, Habib Bank Ltd, First Women Bank, and Allied Bank, and at the nominated branches of National Bank of Pakistan and Muslim Commercial Bank.

Detail of the nominated branches would be available at prospectuses. The vice chancellor has set a target to reach the annual students enrollment to 1.4 million for that he directed the Regional Directors to come out with at least ten per cent increase in the forthcoming admissions.

The VC also advised them to launch a well organized comprehensive motivation campaign at the regional level to bring a maximum number of people in the educational net. They will be given extra support by the university.

Necessary steps have already been taken to ensure transparency in the admission examination results and books delivery process and complete it within stipulated time frame.

In order to motive the people and bring them in educational net Regional Campuses of the University will also hold information seminar (Open day) in their respective regions to introduce and showcase academic programmes so that the students make an informed choice and take admission.

The university, he said, will continue its policy to provide financial assistance to the needy and deserving students enabling them to continue their future study. In order to accommodate all the poor needy and deserving students there are about nine financial assistance scholarships schemes which support such students Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said adding, “We want to ensure that fee-payment should not be a hurdle in educational pursuits Nobody should be left of education because of financial constraints. The university has also introduced fee installment scheme.

Under the scheme the poor and deserving students around the country who are unable to deposit the whole fee of the semester could take benefit. To get benefitted from the scheme the needy students are hereby advised to contact the nearest Regional Campus of the University.

Dr. Shahid Siddiqui hoped that maximum number of continuing and fresh students will take benefit of it. The university has recently taken various initiatives to expand and improve its academic network bringing maximum number of students in its educational network.
