Final day of Beijing Forum of 2016 held atNational University of Sciences
Islamabad:May 28:The final day of the first overseas chapter of the prestigious Beijing Forum of 2016 took place here at the National University of Sciences and Technology. The day which centred around the theme ‘Pakistan and China in the community of common destiny for all mankind’, saw five panel sessions and a roundtable encompassing concepts including China Pakistan relations, demographics, security as well as culture and civilizations, says a press release.

The speakers in the sessions included eminent scholars and practitioners including Chief Advisor to the Director at the Russian Institute of International Studies in Moscow Dr. Vladimir Kozen; former foreign minister of Pakistan Ambassador Inam ul Haq; Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier of Ontario in Canada Dr. Shafiq Qaadri; former DG IB Dr. Shoaib Suddle; former minister Shoaib Sultan Khan; Chairperson National Rural Support Program Dr. Attiya Inayatullah; former vice chancellor of Balochistan University Brig (r) Agha Gul; cultural heritage management specialist Ms. Feryal Ali Gauhar; prominent folklorist and cultural expert Dr. Uxi Mufti, Chinese delegates, prominent experts, and scholars attended the sessions in large number.

Highlighting the importance of the 65th anniversary of Pakistan-China relations at the forum, NUST China Study Center Director Ambassador Syed Hasan Javed shared recollections of the ties that both countries have shared which are marked by a high degree of mutual trust, amicability and cooperation. Acclaimed writer Ms Feryal Gauhar also shared her insights on the necessity to promote dialogues between civilizations and cultures with eminent Chinese scholars of culture such as Professor Li Chongfeng speaking about the historical significance of places such as Gandhara to Pingcheng in China.

The panel sessions were followed by the concluding session of the Beijing Forum which included remarks from Federal Minister for Planning, Reform and Development Ahsan Iqbal; Advisor NUST and President of the Global Think Tank Network Amer Hashmi; Vice President of the Peking University Li Yansong; Prof.; Chairperson of Silk Road Culture Development Association Geng Yan, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid.The news.
