Comprehensive policy to promote science education demanded
LAHORE:March 16: Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairperson Dr Mohammad Nizam-ud-Din said there was support for science education in Pakistan but if we really wanted to promote it we had to devise a comprehensive policy in this regard.

He said this while addressing the 6th International Conference on Education (ICE) with the theme ‘’Science Beyond Classroom’’. The conference commenced at the University of Education (UOE) on Thursday.

University of Education Vice-Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam said such conferences helped promote the culture of research and knowledge. He said the conference would focus on applied knowledge regarding science education. The budget of some European varsities was more than the total budget of all the universities in Pakistan. Still Pakistani varsities were doing their job very well which should be acknowledged, he added.

Conference’s Chief Organiser Dr Muhammad Alam Saeed said the objective of the conference was to bridge the gap between the applied knowledge and what was being taught in classrooms. The secretary of the conference, Dr Muhammad Azam said more than 300 papers would be presented during the conference. The news.
