Qiraat, Naat contests held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid

Rawalpindi:Inter-University Qiraat and Naat competitions were held at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University (PMAS AAUR) here on Friday.

Seventeen universities participated while a big gathering of audience comprising faculty members and students witnessed the contest. The judges for the Qiraat and Naat competitions were Hafiz Sheikh Muhammad Qasim, Qari Muhammad Shahzad and Allama Rizwan Anjum. The winners of the Qiraat competition included Hafiz Muzammal Shah of International Islamic University, Islamabad as first, Hafiz Muhammad Qasim of Veterinary Sciences University, Lahore second and Hafiz Hamid Raza of Punjab University, Lahore, as the third position holder.

In the Naat competition, Zubair Ahmad of International Islamic University, Islamabad won the first prize, Benash Malik of Punjab University, Lahore got the second and Muhammad Imran of Veterinary Sciences University, Lahore received the third prize.

Prof. Dr Muhammad Muneer Dean Faculty of Agriculture distributed prizes among the winners of three top positions in both categories. In his concluding address, he emphasised the need of moral development and character building, as a part of the students preparation for their practical life ahead. He cited the life of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and his traditions as practical demonstrations of the teachings of the Holy Quraan and urged the students to follow the Quraan and Sunnah in their daily life.
