Higher Education Commission formed body for business disciplines

Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission has constituted a representative body to institute prompt coordination mechanism between business institutes of the country for effective improvement the education standards and ensuring quality of education in business and related disciplines.

The decision was taken at a special sitting of Business Education Accreditation Council (BEAC) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman BEAC.

The meeting of the council developed a framework of accreditation process for standardizing the business education and strengthening the quality assurance processes. The meeting also reviewed a number of important issues including design of accreditation processes, accreditation fee structure and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

A broad-based Representative Committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ehsan Malik, Director, IBA, University of Punjab, Lahore, to design and develop the procedures, guidelines and framework for accreditation council and present it through the platform of AMDIP (Association of Management Development Institutions in Pakistan) which is a representative of Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) in Pakistan for the approval of the Board.

Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed emphasized the need for instituting a prompt coordination mechanism between business institutes of the country for effectively working for improving the quality of education in business and related disciplines.

Experiences of some national and international practices were shared amongst the participants so that the Councils may streamline their processes.

The financial needs and resources of the Council, establishment of Council's Secretariat and recruitment of essential Staff for the council were also deliberated upon by the members we also discussed in the meeting.

The BEAC resolved to continue its efforts for improving quality and business education accreditation processes amongst all the public-private sector institutions of Pakistan. The academicians and experts of the business education disciplines shared their academic experiences. The Nation
