University of Swat seminar of Strategies for Higher Education
MINGORA:13 march: The speakers at an orientation session here on Tuesday called for promotion of quality higher education to meet the challenges.

The orientation session titled “Strategies for Reshaping Higher Education in Pakistan” was held in the University of Swat.

University of Science and Technology Abbottabad Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iftikhar Ahmad was the keynote speaker.

Prof Dr Muhammad Jamal Khan, the vice-chancellor of the University of Swat, welcomed Dr Iftikhar and appreciated his contribution and commitment to reshaping the field of higher education in the country, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the session, Dr Iftikhar highlighted the core issues and problems of the higher education sector in the country.

He said that in the context of globalisation, the scope and demand for higher education was increasing day by day and this demand can only be fulfilled by quality higher education.

“Improving the quality of higher education is the need of the hour. Pakistan’s higher education is not ranked anywhere among the world higher education systems in terms of quality. The quality of higher education depends on various factors such as favourable environment for teaching and learning, infrastructure, teachers, curriculum, effective feedback, research opportunities and monitoring systems,” he added.

The participants discussed various issues related to the Higher Education sector, mainly focusing that a change in attitude is needed from universities. They are not merely places of conferring degrees and distinctions. They have a responsibility to facilitate the wholesome development of their students. The news.
