88th Founders celebration of LCWU

Lahore: The new building of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) was inaugurated at a simple but impressive ceremony conducted on the commemoration of 88th Founders celebration of the LCWU on Wednesday. The new building, which comprises admin and academics blocks was opened formally by Vice Chancellor Dr Bushra Mateen.

She unveiled the plaque at the Admin Block and VC's office and cut the cake in connection with founders' day ceremony. Dr. Bushra Mateen on the occasion congratulated the faculty members and administration staff. She said LCWU was considered as a renowned educational institution of the female because of quality of education and discipline. The VC appreciated the financial support of Higher Education Commission (HEC) for this project and added that the building would house the VC office, Registrars' office, Examination branch under one roof, which will ensue better performance and convenience.

Previously the administrative offices were scattered in various parts of the university and the staff was facing difficulties in performing their duties, she added. She said that the new four-storey building completed according to schedule comprised administrative offices and departments of biotechnology, microbiology, business studies and pharmacy. It will house laboratories of both the science departments. There were no admissions in biotechnology and microbiology due to lack of building and now the admissions will be made from the next session. The nation
