King Edward medical University Machines Gathering dust

LAHORE, July 7: Polymerase chain reaction machines worth approximately Rs7.5 million installed at Institute of Public Health (IPH) and King Edward medical University (KEMU) six months ago are still non-functional, say Young Doctors’ Association officials.

In a statement, officials say it was a negligence of the administrations of the KEMU and IPH that they had failed to buy kits for Hepatitis B and C tests and new machines were lying non-functional in pathology departments.

They alleged the “mafia” of private laboratories did not want the machines to be functional as their business would be affected if these machines start functioning. They urged the chief minister to look into the matter.Dawn
