KINNAIRD College for Women University wins Lahore Chamber of Commerce Competition

LAHORE:KINNAIRD College for Women University on Thursday won the two-day Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Plan Competition 2009 while STEP Institute and LUMS secured second and third positions respectively.

The Business Plan Competition 2009 was arranged by Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Standing Committee on Education in order to encourage the students to devise business strategies.

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry is convinced that the way out of present stalemate in trade and industry lies in evolving prudent business plan.

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mian Muzaffar Ali chaired the competition while students from the University of Central Punjab, Lahore University of Management Sciences, Imperial College for Business Studies, Step Institute, Government College University and Comsat Institute participated in the competition.

The idea was conceived by Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Convener on Education Faisal Iqbal Sheikh for the encouragement of the young graduates so that they could start their own businesses in a new and innovative manner.

The competition was largely attended by students and businessmen, belonging to various faculties and institutions.

Addressing the participants, LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali said it was the prime duty of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote business activities in the country and such programmes would help bring a positive change.

He said the Lahore Chamber would continue to arrange business competition plans so that the industry, which is suffering because of lacking professionally skilled and competent people, could be able to get tailor-made stuff.

The competition will also help students interact with premier bodies of the business community like Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The cash prize of Rs 25000 for the winner team of Kinnaird College for Women University and Rs 15000 for runner-up, the STEP Institute, were sponsored and given by Kashif Younas Mehr, Chief Executive of Model Steel, while cash prize of Rs 10000 went to LUMS team which got third position and was sponsored by Habib Rafique Group.
