ISLAMABAD: A book on the personality and works of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal in Sindhi language will be of major help to understand the national hero, said Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairman Fakhar Zaman here on Friday.

He was addressing the launching ceremony of a book titled “Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal-life and works.” authored by a famous critic and researcher Dr Rafiuddin Hashmi while translated into Sindhi by Manzoor Ali Vasreo.

This was the first ever book to be published in this language on Iqbal’s life and again PAL had the honour of publishing book of this nature as a part of the project: “Makers of Pakistani Literature,” Zaman added.

“PAL intends to publish more books in all the Pakistani languages and the present book is the first step in this direction,” he observed.

Commenting on Iqbal’s poetry and his other literary contributions, Zaman observed that the poet’s progressive point of view also needed to be highlighted. “It is very important to re discover Allama’s philosophy and teachings in the present frame of reference.” Zaman emphasized.

Paying tributes to the Pakistani writers and poets, Zaman said that he was very much sure of their worth and added that their writings could be compared to renowned international writers.
