Islamabad: A young Pakistani student, Arslan Qaiser, has achieved a unique distinction of graduating from the Michigan State University as Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with a GPA of 4.0.

Arslan Qaiser has an academic record emblazoned with a fabulous line of awards right from the beginning of his studies in the Michigan State University in the year 2006-07. Son of Brigadier Qaiser Hameed Malik, Arslan Qaiser did his Higher Secondary School Certificate (FSc) from the Federal Government Sir Syed College, Mall Road, Rawalpindi, securing 88.2 per cent marks. Since getting enrolled in the Michigan State University in the year 2006-07.

Arslan Qaiser continued to achieve 4.0 grade point average in each semester, a unique distinction indeed and was rewarded with a long list of awards and certificates till the time he completed his degree in electrical engineering. Now he is a candidate for PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, that he is expected to accomplish by May 2014. For his outstanding academic performance Arslan Qaiser was awarded the MSU Board of Trustee Award for the Spring 2010. He was conferred two ‘Distinguished Academic Awards, College of Engineering, an honour bestowed only to the top 1 per cent students!

He also enjoyed the unique distinction of being placed on ‘Dean’s Honour List’ for consecutive eight semesters. He won ‘Honours Credits in ECE 201 and ECE 230 for designing and operating an electronic watchdog circuit and for a simulated four-way traffic control system using VHDL respectively.

He was awarded ‘Yates Memorial Engineering Scholarship’ as well as ‘Walker Memorial Engineering Scholarship for the year 2008-09. He was awarded ‘Global Spartan Scholarship’, the ‘Global Neighbours Scholarship as well as the ‘Legacy Scholarship’ during the year 2006-07.

Arslan Qaiser also received a medal and certificate in the ‘First Lego League (FLL) Championship Tournament and the ‘New York Times Award’ for participation in multi-media display project. The news
