BISE PESHAWAR Students want date-sheet changed

PESHAWAR: The candidates appearing in intermediate level examinations have asked the authorities of Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Peshawar to make changes in the date-sheet to facilitate those appearing in the examinations.

Students of various private and government colleges said they had prepared well for the examination and demanded that practical be arranged along with their respective theoretical papers on the same date.

Junaid, a student of first year pre-medical group, said his Biology paper according to the date-sheet would be on May 3 while the practical test would be conducted on June 4. “One month wait for practical is illogical,” he added.

Abdullah, a teacher, suggested that authorities should keep in mind that students having science subjects needed time to study for the coming entry test examination to get admission in medical and engineering universities. BISE Controller Examinations Nasir Ali said that it was impossible to conduct the practical and the theory paper on the same day as the authorities had to prepare laboratories and separate question papers for the practical examinations.

“Science teachers are performing their duties as invigilators, so how can they take practical examination at other centres,” he argued. He said it was impossible to hold theory and practical papers on the same day because the invigilators were busy, as they had to supervise papers in the evening shifts as well.

Nasir Ali said a total of 35,255 students of Part-I and 38,133 of Part-II were appearing in 224 examination centres during the ongoing examination from April 27. He said supervisory staff members numbering 331 female and 771 male invigilators were performing duties in the halls. He added that 12,477 students of Pre-Engineering and 15,656 of Pre-Medical groups, 5,073 of General Science, 39,966 of Humanities, 181 of Theology, 10 of Dental Hygiene and 25 of Medical Laboratory Technology of Part-I and Part-II were appearing in the current examinations. The news
