University of Health Sciences budget approved
LAHORE:THE University of Health Sciences (UHS) Board of Governors (BoGs) has approved Rs 306.190 million budget for the financial year 2010-11.
The 22nd meeting of the BoGs was held here on Saturday which was chaired by Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar. Other members who attended the meeting included former Finance Minister Sartaj Aziz, Justice (Retd) Amer Raza Khan, Prof Amer Aziz, UHS VC Prof M H Mubbashar and additional secretary finance.
According to budget estimates, Rs.111.590 million has been earmarked for administrative expenses. A sum of Rs.52.190 million has been allocated for operating expenses that include utilities (Rs.18.800 million), repair and maintenance (Rs.7.900 million), communications (Rs 6.015 million), printing and stationery (Rs 14 million), advertisement and publicity (Rs 1 million), books and periodicals (Rs 2 million) and law charges (Rs 1.500 million).
The University has reserved Rs.14.500 million for scholarships and Financial Award Scheme which also includes cash awards for brilliant students.
An amount of Rs.40.800 million will be spent on research activities in the university. Out of it, Rs.10 million has been allocated for the purchase of chemicals and reagents and Rs.0.300 million has been allocated for the maintenance of Experimental Animal Research Lab. The UHS has also established a research fund at an amount of Rs 1 million for undertaking research of special nature.
A sum of Rs 60 million has been earmarked for civil works which also include funds for the development of new university campus at Kala Shah Kaku.The news
