ISLAMABAD: Admitting shortage of buses at educational institutions, Rafiq Tahir, FDE director (training), has told Daily Times that concrete steps were being taken for provision of buses to all schools and colleges. “With the help of ICT, 25 new buses are going to come for students shortly. FDE is also purchasing six new buses and four coasters for female teachers,” Tahir said. He said FDE was also working for availability of new buses for students of model colleges for women. Chief commissioner’s spokesman Khalid Mehmood said the ICT administration was working on a number of projects for provision of transport facilities to students and general commuters by introducing a decent public transport system in the capital. “Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has issued special directives for launching a transport service to facilitate commuters and necessary consultations with all stakeholders are underway,” he said. staff report Daily times
