ISLAMABAD:05 February: Riphah International University organised naat competitions for students on Saturday.
The competitions were part of Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations and more than 200 students from over 60 universities and educational institutions took part.
Seventy students were short listed for the final competition after extensive auditions.
Among male contestants, Zeeshan Akhtar of Government College Satellite Town Rawalpindi secured first position, Anza Khalid of Government College Abbottabad obtained second and Zaryab Haider of Punjab College of Information Technology secured the third position. Ilyas Chisti, Tayyab Siddiqui, Aqeel Shahzad and Azhar Niaz were the judges of the competition of male candidates. Among female contestants, Sumaiya Zeb of Jinnah Education System Taxila secured first position, Mehwish Ishtiaq of Government College Abid Majeed Road Rawalpindi obtained second place while Sanam Mumtaz of Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi came in third.
Dean of Faculty of Arabic from International Islamic University Islamabad Dr Zaitoon, Fouzia Saeed and International Islamic University Islamabad Director Madam Zubaida, were the judges for female candidates.
Riphah Center of Islamic Business Director Khurram Khan and other senior officials of the university distributed prizes among winners of the competitions. All the participants were also awarded certificates for taking part in the competitions.
Khan, in his remarks, lauded the management of Islamic International Medical College Trust and Riphah International University, particularly Riphah Art & Literary Society, Students Affairs Department and Admissions Department officials, for holding the event during the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal.Daily Times.
