Postgraduate Medical Staff Association Protest

PESHAWAR: The Postgraduate Medical Institute Teaching Staff Association at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Tuesday expressed concern over disappearance of noted physician and gastroenterologist Dr Sohail and warned of launching a protest movement if he was not recovered within 72 hours.

The association in a meeting presided over by Dr Sajjad Ahmad noted that the kidnapping of the senior gastroenterologist had shocked the doctors in NWFP. The participants sought his early and safe release.

The doctors said Dr Sohail was a philanthropist who used to help the poor and needy patients and even pay from his pocket for their treatment. Dr Farooq, general secretary of the PGMI Teaching Staff Association at the LRH, demanded of the government to take practical steps for safe release of the kind-hearted physician.

Dr Sohail was on his way to his clinic at Dabgari Gardens when he was kidnapped by unknown people. According to sources close to Dr Sohail, no one has approached his family to demand any ransom so far. “He belongs to the Tableeghi Jamaat and was a very good human-being. I personally saw him paying from his pocket to buy medicines for the poor patients,” recalled Dr Mohammad Farooq of LRH.The news
