Education must for progress

KARAK: MNA from District Karak Maulana Mufti Ajmal has said that without education no nation could progress and education has played a corner stone in the progress of the developed nations. This he said, while inaugurating the literacy center established by National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) at Rangeenkhel village of Tehsil Takht-e-Nasrati here on Sunday. He added that Islam has given great importance to education as without education no one could recognize Allah, Almighty and Prophet (PBUH) and recalled that Muslim Scientists had established the foundations of all important academic works. Mr Ajmal said that imparting of education to women was more important so that they should come to know about their rights given to them by Islam. He appreciated the efforts of NCHD for spreading the light of education in every nook and corner of the district and added that NCHD was not an NGO rather it was a government institution. He asked the people to support NCHD in its efforts to enhance the literacy ratio especially in women in the district. MNA claimed that he suggested 12 amendments in women right bill which according to him were contrary to the teachings of Islam and said that the women bill passed by the Parliament has been prepared in the light of the teachings of Islam to protect the basic rights of women. He extended full support to NCHD and resolved that he would help the NCHD in bringing social change in the society. The District General Manager (DGM) of NCHD Tahir Sharif Afridi on the occasion threw light on the objectives of NCHD and added that its core programs were the Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Adult Literacy Program. He said that without the active support of the people and the elected representatives they could not achieve the objectives of NCHD and appeal to them to support NCHD in enhancing the literacy ratio in the district. DGM informed that NCHD has made intervention in all the 24 districts of the province and dispelled the impression that NCHD was NGO. District Program Manager (DPM Literacy) Alif Gul Khatak said on the occasion that nobody could deny the importance of education and NCHD was working on the enhancement of literacy especially on women. He informed that presently NCHD was working in six union councils of the district and so far they have established 180 Adult Literacy Centers in which 4321 women getting literate. Mr Gul said that in next phase they would intervene in other union councils to cover the entire district. Local activist Haji Noor Islam Khattak extended full support to NCHD on the occasion and said that for making the nation educatedthey have to make the mothers educated first.
