Islamabad:SSP (traffic) Dr. Moeen Masood has stressed on the need for fixing a suitable fare for students to protect them from the dangerous practice of travelling on rooftops of buses and wagons.
Addressing a meeting of heads of different educational institutions arranged by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) here on Tuesday, he said that there was a need for a close liaison among educational institutions, parents and representatives of public transport unions to fix a suitable fare for students.
The meeting was attended by Director Education (Model Colleges) Dr. Mujeeb Usman, Director Education (Colleges) Mumtaz Ali, Director (Federal Government Colleges for Women) Shazia Gul, vice principals of H-8 and H-9 colleges, DSP Traffic Chaudhry Arshad Ali, ITA Secretary Asia Gul and representatives of public transport unions.
The SSP said that students must be issued cards by college administrations to facilitate them and students should be educated to stop travelling on rooftops of buses and wagons.
The SSP (traffic) said that traffic education campaign is being started in colleges to create awareness among students. THE NEWS
