Semester End Show 2009: Fatima Jinnah Women University Students showcase artworks

Rawalpindi: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Bachelors of Computer Arts (BCA) students on Wednesday exhibited their artworks in the "Semester End Show 2009".

The show is a biannual activity of FJWU, which is organised at the end of every semester to appreciate the talent of students. The display of 2009 was a magnificent show of creativity, innovation and professional approach of the students.

FJWU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Saeeda Asadullah Khan inaugurated the show at the Fine Arts Department. A large number of students and faculty members attended the inaugural ceremony.

The artworks received a good response and appreciation from the visitors, as many of them bought a number of the art pieces on the display.

The VC said the students' work was very creative and their approach and outlook were unique and diverse. "The university aims at providing its students market-oriented skills through practical work," she said.

She said the students work was worth watching. She also appreciated the efforts of the BCA faculty with a special mention to BCA Department in charge Zarin Gul in making the event a success.

She said the work by the students was very impressive and indeed a showcase of the hard work of the students and their teachers.

The exhibition featured more than 200 art pieces in the areas of photography, computer graphics, oil paintings, visual arts, calligraphy, textile, video installation with performance, documentary production, desktop publishing and printing, campaign development and graphic designing.

The artworks on display were very distinctive and full of expressions as the young souls tried their level best to translate their emotions and ideas into a fabulous work. Daily Times
